Alfalfa, and why it is good for your chickens…
At Dawson Gap Naturals, we want to increase the value of our feeds, while decreasing the cost to the farms which we support. One way we are going to do that is by adding Alfalfa to our Non-GMO chicken feeds.
As recommended by Jeff Mattocks of Fertrell Minerals, the addition of Alfalfa to chicken feeds will act as an immune system booster, keeping chickens vibrant and healthy. The Alfalfa also provides dense fiber in small quantities. This extremely dense fiber of the alfalfa provides a scouring effect to the gut wall and intestinal tract of the chickens, and will allow more nutrients to be absorbed. Alfalfa is also a producer of Triacontanol, which will stimulate robust growth of the chicken. The use of Alfalfa will increase vitamin A, carotenes, and xanthophyll which are all beneficial to the chicken and the end consumer of chicken products.
Dawson Gap Naturals seeks to help you produce the best egg and chicken products possible. Feed manufacturers in the industry can include additives to their feed to increase the color of eggs yolks, and the presence of xanthophyll from Alfalfa will help create a rich orange egg yolk, but the most nutritious eggs will be achieved by the producer’s own pasture management techniques, and use of high quality nutrient dense Non GMO feeds. This is why we focus on the health and growth benefits Alfalfa has to offer chickens and the final product we produce as farms. Dawson Gap Naturals will feature Alfalfa as an ingredient in our poultry feeds to help you produce the finest product for your family and community.
